Tour Destination : Mandalay-Amarapura-Ava-Sagaing-Mingun-Pyin Oo Lwin-Thibaw-Mandaly-Heho-Inle-Yangon

Overview: This program highlights famous calssical toursites of Myanmar with an addition of Thibaw, off the beaten trek. It covers the most beautiful places and you will be amused to take Myanmar train on the old Goeiktake bridge from Pyin Oo Lwin to Thibaw. For the ones who like to discover the culture, nature and tradition suites with this itinerary.

Itinerary Detail

Day 1
Mandalay

mandalay-07Upon arrival at Mandalay International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide and transfer to your hotel by your private car (about one hour drive).

Afternoon sightseeing starts with a visit to historical monuments; "GOLDEN PALACE MONASTERY" (SHWE NAN DAW KYAUNG); a traditional wooden building, and "KU THO DAW PAGODA", the world largest book made of marble, both were built by King Min Don in 19 century, and as a last destination of the day,  Mandalay hill to enjoy the panoramic view and sunset.

Back to hotel, overnight in Mandalay.

Day 2
Mandalay-Amarapura-Ava- Sagaing-Mandalay

sagaing-02After breakfast, you will be leaving for the whole day excursion to the ancient capitals in Mandalay region, the  visits include  Amarapura (the ancient royal capital,11 km from Mandalay), "MAHAGANDAYON MONASTERY" where more than 1000 of monks live and study.

Then you will be transferred to the jetty of AVA(IN WA) , a former royal capital where the horse-drawn carriages are waiting for the visits. Visits in Ava resumes the famous traditional wood curving and teak posts "BAGAYA MONASTER" , "NAN MYINT WATCH TOWER" nicknamed leaning tower of Ava, and  "MAHA AUNG MYAY BON SAN MONASTERY"(Mai Nu Okk Kyaung);built of brick and stucco.

Then, you will be transferred to SAGAING HILL, visit "SWAN OO PON NYA SHIN PAGODA" at the top and enjoy the panoramic view. Return to AMARAPURA to assist the sunset from 200- year- old and 1200 meters long teak bridge "U BEIN". Back to the Hotel and overnight in Mandalay.

Day 3
Mandalay-Mingun-Mandalay

mingun-02After breakfast, you will be transferred to Mayanchan jetty for half day excursion with a private boat  to MINGUN (11km up stream). Up on arrival, walking along to visit the largest unfinished pagoda "PAHTOTAWGYI", the world largest ringing bell and a particular architecture style of "MYA THEIN TAN" Pagoda. Then return back to Mandalay and make a glance to a firsthand jade dealer market where you can see how jade trading is conducted in primary stage.

In the afternoon, a visit to the most revered religious monuments in Myanmar" MAHAMUNI PAGODA" and visit to some handicraft workshops (if the time permits),  a traditional Kalaga tapestries craftsmen’s workshop, gold  leaves workshop etc.

Return back to Hotel and overnight in Mandalay.

Day 4
Mandalay-Pyin Oo Lwin

pwin-oo-lwin-03After breakfast, you will be transferred to Pyin Oo Lwin(May Myo), a former British summer station during colonial period (about 2 hours drive). Check-in at your hotel.

Sightseeing in Pyin Oo Lwin resumes a local wet market, walking and relaxing in the famous botanical garden, and DAT TAW GYINT water fall. Return back to Hotel, overnight in Pyin Oo Lwin.

Day 5
Pyin Oo Lwin- Gokteik Viaduct- Kyauk Mae-Thibaw

gokteik-02After breakfast, you will be transferred to Pyin Oo Lwin station for half day excursion by train to the northern part of Shan State,  Kyauk Mae( about 5 hours). You will have an extraordinary experience by passing over Gokteik Viaduct. The bridge was built in 1901 during colonial period, 102 meters high and 37 meters long.

From Kyauk Mae, continue by car to Thibaw ( around 1 hour), before arriving to Thibaw, visit to the famous "BAW GYO PAGODA" of the region then continue to Hotel.

Overnight in Thibaw.

Day 6
Thibaw

thibaw-02After breakfast, half day excursion by boat to the confluence of Dukhtawaddy river. Enjoy the pleasant scenery along the river side and visit to a traditional Shan village "SOM LON" on the way back.

In the afternoon, a visit to the last Shan Saw Bwa's (Shan Chief) residence. Then , continue to  visit some  typical villages and you will enjoy to observe their ways of lives and making friends with the local people.
During your visit, you will see small family workshops of Shan noodle and you can try the taste.

Return back to Hotel and overnight in Thibaw.

Day 7
Thibaw-Pyin Oo Lwin-Mnadalay

mandalay-08After breakfast, visit to local market of Thibaw. Then transfer to Pyin oo Lwin by car (around 5 hours drive). Along the road, you can stop from time to time to take some pictures of country side and also  Gokteik Viaduc from a distance.

According to on your arrival time to Pyin Oo Lwin, a visit to PWE KAUK water fall can be possible. Then, continue to Mandalay.

Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 8
Mandalay-Heho-Inle

inle-08After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for domestic flight to Heho. Upon arrival, drive to Nyaung Shwe jetty(1 hour drive). On the way, visit "SHWE YAN PYAY" monastery; typical Shan style of 18 century. Then arrival to Nyaung Shwe jetty and transfer to Hotel by boat.

In the afternoon, an excursion by boat to see the famous leg rowers, typical floating gardens, village life, local method of fishing, etc. Then visit to the famous "PHAUNG DAW OO PAGODA", "NGA PHE CHAUNG" monastery considered as museum of Buddha images and visit Kay Lar Village for the unique life style of Inthas different from the other parts of Myanmar, then return back to Hotel.

Overnight in Inle lake.

Day 9
Inle-Indein-Red Mountain-Inle

indein-04After breakfast, sightseeing starts with a visit  to one of  the 5 days markets in Inle lake region (on market days only), then continue to the Western Shore of Inle lake by boat, leading to the INN DEIN Pagoda complex consisting hundreds of pagodas overgrown by moss and greens.

Return back to Inle Lake and a visit to traditional weaving workshops in Inn Phaw Khon village,  a handmade cheroot factory and  a blacksmith workshop and silversmith workshop.

Then, visit to Red Mountain wine yard by car or by bike, observing how to produce real wine in Myanmar and tasting wine. Return back to Hotel and overnight in Inle.

Day 10
Heho-Nyaung U-Bagan

bagan-12After breakfast, transfer to Heho airport and flight to Nyaung U. Upon arrival, visit to the colorful local market of Naung U to see a part of the daily life of people in upper Myanmar. Then sightseeing continues to the most significant temples and pagodas of Bagan which include early 11th century religious shrine "SHWE ZI GON PAGODA", one of the most magnificent architectural style "HTI LO MIN LO TEMPLE", then, "MYIN KA BAR GU BYAUK GYI" Temple for exquisite mural painting of the early 12th century protected by UNESCO and "NAN PHAYA TEMPLE" to observe a rare temple dedicated for Brahman worship in Bagan dynasty.

Afternoon, a visit to the famous "ANADA TEMPLE" which is well known for its most elaborated interior decoration in the early of 12 century. Then, explore the secret charm of Bagan by horse cart and proceeded on a terrace of an ancient stupa or temple to enjoy a splendid sunset.

Day 11
Bagan

bagan-11After breakfast,  visit to "DAMARAZIKA PAGODA" built in 12 century with the particular architectural style, you can proceed to the terrace to take a relax moment by enjoying the beauty of authentic architectural site.

You will visit to MIN NAN THU VILLAGE, walking through the village  and making friends with the villagers.  Then, your visit in Bagan will be continued to traditional lacquer ware factory where you can learn every step of manufacturing by hand.

In the afternoon, you will take a small private boat for mini cruise on the Aye Yar Waddy River and enjoy the sunset on the river.

Overnight in Bagan.

Day 12
Bagan- Yangon

bagan-13After breakfast, flight to Yangon and transfer to your hotel.

Sightseeing in Yangon starts with a visit to SULE Pagoda dating back to 5 century BC and walking through downtown area of Yangon (the ancient Yangon) to see daily life of Yangonites lead and to observe the multi-architecture of colonial and modern buildings. Make a glance to the Strand hotel, the oldest colonial style hotel in Myanmar. Then, a visit to BOTAHTAUNG PAGODA for its  most interesting architectural style.

In the afternoon, visit to the famous "Scott Market" also known as "Bo Goyoke Aung San Market", the biggest market built in the colonial period; where you can see all kinds of Myanmar products. at last but not least, visit to the glory of Yangon, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA, one of the world's most magnificent religious monuments built during Lord Buddha era. Enjoy the very special moment at the pagoda.  Back to hotel and overnight in Yangon.

Yangon-International Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Yangon international airport.
